The Third Amendment

Amendment #3:

"No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."

It is through this amendment that our rights to our home, provide a sense of security, privacy, and ownership.

The forgotten amendment?

"We don't hear much about the third amendment...it's not usually used...we don't have any public supreme decisons interpreting the scope of the third amendment" Reflecting upon this video, I can say that I haven't heard much about this amendment. The video example of police unconstitutionally using the man's house for survellience correlates to this amendment, even though they are not soldiers.  It is deemed third of all amendments, so it seems implied that this would be a highly recognized and regarded amendment.

Another perspective....not forgotten, just effective? Read the following article.

The Second Amendment

Amendment #2

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

It is important to know the rights that are given in this amendment.  To gain a well rounded understanding, it is equally important to know the controversy that comes with this, and to be able to hear out the different opinions on this topic.

                                                    Defining the 2nd Amendment Video:

This video does an excellent job of breaking down ALL components and defining each component of this amendment.  When thinking of the second amendment, 'the right to bear arms,' comes to mind.  It helps to break down each each sentence to understand the true intent of this amendment.

To further show how controversial and sensitive this topic is, watch the following debate on gun control. Listen to the lobiest as well as board, and note how they communicate, what questions are asked, and what conclusions are made.

In this debate, the lobiest brings up many valid points against gun control in Maryland, Connecticut.  He uses well his ethos, as a lobbiest for the firearms industry, pathos, shares that this is a personal matter for him,  and logos, has endless facts, historical and current supporting statements.  Yet it shows well the process of how such things are debated, questioned, and fought for from both ends.
