The Third Amendment

Amendment #3:

"No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."

It is through this amendment that our rights to our home, provide a sense of security, privacy, and ownership.

The forgotten amendment?

"We don't hear much about the third amendment...it's not usually used...we don't have any public supreme decisons interpreting the scope of the third amendment" Reflecting upon this video, I can say that I haven't heard much about this amendment. The video example of police unconstitutionally using the man's house for survellience correlates to this amendment, even though they are not soldiers.  It is deemed third of all amendments, so it seems implied that this would be a highly recognized and regarded amendment.

Another perspective....not forgotten, just effective? Read the following article.

In this article,  "I often tell my constitutional law students that the Third Amendment is the only part of the Bill of Rights that really works -- because there are almost no cases of troop-quartering. If only the rest of the Bill of Rights were so effective." Perhaps the reason we don't hear about this amendment is because it isn't occuring as much.  If it were a bigger problem, it would not seem "forgotten."
